Force One, having already been a registered member of UVDB applied for Achilles category B2 assessment and accreditation in 2008.
After a vigorous audit by Achilles during December 2008 Force One Ltd were pleased to be informed that they had received a very positive result and have now been awarded Achilles UVDB Verify accreditation.
This Verify certification shows that Force One Ltd have been audited across its Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality practices and procedures and has achieved a standard deserving of Achilles accreditation.
Over 30 Utilities and more then 35 of their contracting partners use this system to qualify their supply chain through a standard assessment of management systems and site performance.
This accreditation can result in a reduction in the effort and time required to pre-qualify for contracts.
Force One Ltd is dedicated to constantly striving to achieve improvements to its already high operational standards and the UVDB Achilles B2 assessment and Verification is a further step in demonstrating this to its customers.
Force One attended the Water, Sewerage and Waste exhibition held at the Holiday Inn hotel, Peterborough, in October 2008 and were delighted at the levels of interest generated at their stand.
They were the only exhibitor to display both in the exhibition hall and have one of their suction excavators on show outside the hotels main entrance.
Visitors stated that it was extremely useful to be able to talk to members of Force One at their stand, receiving technical information and literature to take away and then see and talk with the operative crew of the excavator plus have its functions explained and demonstrated.
Sean Strohman, Force One's Business Development Manager said "This was the first show of this type that we have attended and have been very pleased with the number of enquiries that we received. Many people in the industry have heard of or read about suction excavation but until they can see the machine and have their questions answered, gaining a full understanding of this technology can be difficult."
"As a result of meetings at the show we are arranging on site demonstrations for a number of new and existing customers. This will, I am sure, result in an additional uptake of our hire service."
This show was another opportunity, following the attendance of the No-Dig live show last month, to gain more reaction to the new Force One image/logo. Once again this was received very well with comments of "very dynamic", "eye catching" and "professional" being expressed my many attendees.
Force One continues to invest in this new and extremely versatile, safe and cost effective form of non invasive excavation technology having committed to additional vehicles already. These will be delivered early in 2009 and will be further added to over the course of the next 12/24 months.
Pat Burke, Managing Director of Force One, also stated how pleased he was with the results generated by attending the exhibition; "we wanted to show our latest machine to further generate interest in our hire service but had our expectations exceeded by the response."
Force One attended the three day No-Dig Live exhibition held at Stoneleigh this month (September 2008). The aim was to heighten its company profile within the No-Dig market by demonstrating its latest suction excavator.
Force One use its suction excavators on its own utility contracts across the country but is finding that its new hire service is growing in demand and popularity. The No-Dig Live show allowed Force One to demonstrate to existing and new customers the effectiveness and versatility of application of this new technology.
"We were very pleased with the interest and response generated at our combined stand at this years show. Sometimes it's not until people see our suction excavator in action that they can fully appreciate its possible applications"
Sean Strohman - Business Development Manager
The show was also a good opportunity to launch the new company brand being rolled out across its vehicle fleet with the suction excavator being the first vehicle to receive the new livery. The new and exciting logo will become a recognised site wherever Force One operate and already has received very positive feedback from visitors to the show.
"The interest shown at the show towards the new No-Dig technology of Suction Excavation further proves that this is indeed the future direction of utility excavation and further justification of our investment in this equipment"
Patrick Burke - M.D. Force One Utilities

ForceOne Utilities Limited has boosted its vehicle fleet with the purchase and delivery of a new high power Suction Excavator. MD Patrick Burke and Business Development Manager Sean Strohman visited the manufacturing site In Germany prior to accepting delivery to both view the final stages of manufacture of the vehicle and to meet with the companies management team.
The visit was a further step in ForceOne's commitment to investing in this new technology. This particular vehicle is fitted with a new twin fan arrangement that will significantly improve the efficacy of its performance and allow for greater flexibility in the soil conditions that it will be capable of dealing with.
MD Patrick Burke stated that "as ForceOne moves forward they will continue to expand their fleet of Suction Excavators with a goal of operating ten vehicles by the end of 2009/10. The continued importance of Health and Safety within our core utility business and the need of avoiding utility strikes, with all the cost and legal consequences involved, makes this form of excavation the way forward for difficult excavation projects".
Suction Excavation also offers a range of other opportunities to industry other then those involved within the Utility sector. More and more companies are realising the flexibility offered by these machines and possible applications within their industries.
